Privacy Policy

Data we collect

TabNotes does not collect, store, sell, share, or transmit personal information, browsing data, note content, usage analytics, advertising identifiers, telemetry, or crash reports to the TabNotes developer.

Local storage

Notes, workspaces, tags, settings, and related application data are stored locally in Chrome extension storage on your own device. This data is not sent to a TabNotes server.

Optional Google Drive sync

If you choose to connect Google Drive, TabNotes uses Chrome's identity API and the Google Drive drive.appdata scope to create or update a sync file in your private Google Drive app data folder.

The sync data is transferred directly between TabNotes and Google Drive. The TabNotes developer cannot access your Google account, your notes, or your sync file.

Saves your notes and settings locally on your device.

Supports local-first note collections that may grow beyond standard storage quotas.

tabs and activeTab

Reads the current tab URL so notes can be linked to the right page or domain.

sidePanel

Displays the TabNotes side panel beside browser content.

contextMenus

Adds "Clip selection to TabNotes" when the user selects text and uses the context menu.

identity

Allows optional Google sign-in for Google Drive sync.

offscreen

Plays local reminder audio when a note reminder fires.

alarms and notifications

Schedules reminders and displays user-requested reminder notifications.

Calls Google Drive APIs only when the user enables Drive sync.

Export and import

Export creates a JSON backup file on your device. Import reads a local backup file you choose. These actions do not use a TabNotes server.

Third-party services

TabNotes does not include third-party analytics, advertising, telemetry, or tracking services. Google Drive is used only if you opt in to Drive sync.

Children's privacy

TabNotes does not knowingly collect information from children or from any other users.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated policy will be published on this page and reflected in the extension's release notes when appropriate.
